Throughout 2007-2008, banks sold FX Loans in foreign currency in all Europe. Thousands of families took a loan to buy their home and were trapped in a nightmare. Attracted by low interest rates and lower rates, they mostly borrowed in Swiss francs without the bank being warned of exchange rate risk.
ASUFIN in collaboration with the Barcelona Lawyer Association Bar and the Youth Lawyers Group (GAJ Barcelona) has invited representatives of consumer associations from different European countries to learn more about the situation of families with Fx Loans in Europe. The Finsalud Foundation will explain the project ‘Financial Fraud and Health’ to measure the impact of financial fraud on people’s health. Finally, we will have the participation of Carlos Sánchez, member of the Spanish Supreme Court to explain the recent Spanish jurisprudence in relation to FX Loans.
This is the VI Edition of the European Conference on Currency Mortgages. Other editions have taken place in Cyprus (I – December 2014), Athens (II – June 2015), London (III – September 2015), Brussels (VI – May 2016) and Warsaw (V – October 2016). This will be the first time organized by ASUFIN that has chosen the city of Barcelona to celebrate the first conference of its kind in Spain.
